I’ve been watching videos and live newsfeeds of what’s happening - bombings, shellings, murders. The corrupt “government” has had power for decades and for the past two years has decided to publicly slaughter its own people. It upsets me so much that I want block it off and shut off my emotions. I can do nothing to help my family or my people and it infuriates me. But there is nothing more important. So this is my attempt to educate you.
This is not a civil war, this is a massacre.
Spread awareness. I realize now that just because I may be aware of what’s going on, that doesn’t mean anything. It just means I hurt more. I shouldn’t have given up my attempts at spreading the word because I felt privileged and helpless. Syria is my home, my blood, my country. My family.
I should have done this a long time ago.
